FAQ

When will the results of the contest be announced?

Each of the quarterly winners will be announced no later than 70 days after the end of each quarter. The Artist of the Year Award will be announced on or before March 20th, 2019.

Will I receive feedback for my entry?

I’m sorry, but due to the number of entries, we will not be able to provide individual critiques unless you land in the top three for each quarter.

Do the entries have to be recorded with accompaniment?

If you have the opportunity to use accompaniment for your song, it will help. However, if you do not have time or resources to record the song with accompaniment, a capella will work just fine.

Can a band enter the contest?

Yes! We will allow solo artists, duets, groups, choirs, or bands to enter the competition.

Do the entries have to be radio-ready?

No! The judging is on the quality of the artist, not the quality of the recording/production.

Do the entries have to be a particular style?

Christian Music has a wide range of styles. Whether your songs are AC, country, pop, rock, P&W, southern gospel or urban/R&B/black gospel, send them to us!

Will I know what rank my entries place if they aren’t in the top three?

We will only announce the placement of the top three entries. However, we will announce which artists make it through phase one of the contest so you can see how far you make it as we move through the judging process.

If I miss the deadline for a Phase 2 entry, what happens?

If you miss your deadline for your Phase 2 entry, you will automatically be placed into Phase 2 of the following quarter which will give you more time to complete your Phase 2 entry.

Can I enter again if I don't win?

If you don’t win Artist of the Year, you may enter again in following years. If you do win Artist of the Year, you can never enter again. If you win 1st Place in one of the quarters, you can not enter again until the following year.

If I do win Artist of the Year, how will the song be selected to be recorded?

We will mutually agree on a song to be recorded. It may be a song that you have written. But if you don’t write, we will work on writing a song for you to be recorded. And you must approve the song in advance before we go into the studio to record.

If I do win Artist of the Year, can I record a cover song?

No. The song that is to be recorded must be either written by you, the artist, or written for the artist, but it definitely must be an original song.

If I do win Artist of the Year and then we record a song that I have written or co-written, will I maintain the rights to the song?

Absolutely.

If I do win Artist of the Year, who will be the producer for my song?

That depends on the style of the winner. We have different producers for different styles. We assure you that we will use a reputable producer that has recorded major label artists.
